Kinjal Dave: Gujarat’s Garba Queen Igniting Hearts Worldwide

From humble beginnings to stellar stages, Kinjal Dave has emerged as one of the most influential voices in Gujarati folk and contemporary music.

Early Spark: Roots and Rise

Born on November 24, 1998, in Jesangpura—a small village near Patan, Gujarat—Kinjal was raised in a modest Audichiya Brahmin family. Her father, Laljibhai Dave, sang devotional songs at local events, unknowingly passing his musical flame to his daughter. Kinjal began singing at just 7 years old, performing bhajans with her father, absorbing their art organically without formal training.

Hard work defined her early years—traveling to shows on a bicycle, later upgrading to a bike they diligently used for over a lakh kilometers across Gujarat.

Breakthrough: From Jonadiyo to Chartbuster

Kinjal’s first song, “Jonadiyo,” introduced her into the music scene around 2015–16, but it was her 2016 release “Chaar Chaar Bangadi Vali Gadi” that marked her breakthrough. The song became a viral sensation, amassing over 10 million views in just 7 days.

Since then, she’s released over 100 albums, including fan favorites like “Chhote Raja,” “Leri Lala,” “Dhan Chhe Gujarat,” and “Ghate Toh Ghate Zindagi”.

Stardom and Recognition

Her irresistibly infectious style earned Kinjal local and international acclaim, leading to over 2,000 live performances across India and abroad—in London, Dubai, Australia, Africa, and the USA.

Kinjal has also received prestigious accolades such as the Gauravshali Gujarati Award and the Feelings Pride of India Award in the music category.

Trials and Triumphs

Her meteoric rise wasn’t without legal challenges. Kinjal faced a copyright infringement lawsuit over “Chaar Chaar Bangadi Vali Gadi”, with initial court orders preventing her from performing the song. The high court later lifted the restriction, and proceedings were largely dismissed or settled.

Cinematic Foray & Political Path

Kinjal’s talented presence crossed into acting with her debut in the 2018 Gujarati film Dada Ho Dikri. The following year, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expanding her influence beyond music.

Legacy and Cultural Impact

Today, Kinjal Dave is not just a singer but a cultural icon—often referred to as the Garba Queen—known for blending tradition with contemporary flair. Her songs are a staple at weddings, Navratri celebrations, and community events across the globe.
